although i only use lithiums, i don't like keeping the batteries in the unit unless actively using it, just kind of afraid of accidently leaving it on.

the question is it ok to store the 2 batteries with one in opposite direction or both of them in opposite direction ( this is the refurb pvs 30 that only take 2 AA's

same thing on elir 3, i swear the other day i put it in backwards and i think it drained it somehow. thanks

i will probably catch shit for this but.... i leave lithium batteries in my gear and clip ons. they dont have the same leakage concerns that alkaline batteries do which is where the "dont leave batteries in your shit" comes from. i use my shit pretty regularly though so your mileage may vary.

depending on how long between uses you have with your gear, id leave them in as normal. even if you left them in and left the unit on worst case is dead batteries. you're really not hurting nv lifespan burning up a set of AA but be mindful and double check your shit before you put it away and that alleviates most of it.

i would not store batteries in the same polarity inside the device. that is no bueno.

Do what you want, but for me once the unit costs in the thousands, I pull the $2 battery even if it is lithium. On my 30, I have a ranger band around the rear portion of the housing and slip a CR123 under it so I always have a battery on the unit when I pull it out of the safe. I’m sure you could do the same with a couple AAs.

thanks switch, can i ask why? so if someone screws up in the middle of the night and turns it on with the batteries in the same polarity, what happens? bad electronic stuff? i had also thought of having my son 3d print a thin figure 8 piece of plastic to just lay inside on top of the batteries so no contact was made. probably just making too big a deal of this, i am also thinking like you, i don't worry to much about the lithiums being inside for prolonged period, not worried about leaking batteries overall with lithiums, i just don't want to accidently leave unit on (especially with front cap off obviously).
