Q about a 7mm case that I found.

Hi, can anyone tell me cartridge this is?

The headstamp reads:

F C 7MM STW

The case is as fat as a 300WM and about .25" taller.

Can anyone tell me what this is?

Wow, should've used google..... thanks for the link.

I still don't understand one thing, is it more powerful than the 7mmRM? I would assume that it is because of the larger case.

7mm STW is the 7mm Shooting Times Westerner. IIRC it has the capability to throw 180 VLD's around 32-3300 fps. Barrel life is not exactly impressive, but the ballistics certainly are.

It can push bullets faster than the 7mm RM, it is a impressive cartridge. Like someone said before barrel life isn't very impressive though, but one has to give and take. There also are other STW cartridges out there.

They also have STA's too. Shooting Times Alaskan. As said above the 7STW's are barrel burners.
