I am curious to know from you guys who are running a Rem 700 action with the Badger M5. How much of the round is being pushed by the bolt face when chambering a new round? Mine chambers fine, but on the last round occassionally the round hits the "ramp" on the AI mag follower and it pops the rim down under the boltto were i cant close it with out backing the bolt out a little then running it forward. Just a slight inconvience but nothing major. Mine looks like the bolt is catching about 1/8 inch of the case rim. Does anyone else have this problem? Thanks in advance

1/8" or a little more is all there is. Does it do it with every mag?
I would suspect that the feed lips are a little out of wack or the spring is weak.

When pushing up on an empty mag, how much play do you have?
On the DBM front and rear tabs (where the guard screws go in) do they sit level, recessed or sticking out slightly?
The only way I know of to close the gap between rounds in the magazine and bolt nose is to
1. Recess the DBM slightly more in the stock
2. Re-bed the rifle with it sitting down further in the stock
3. Replace the magazine release with a slightly longer one.
CDI offers a longer magazine release but, I'm not sure if it will fit the badger. I'd opt for #3 if possible if an adjustment is needed.
These types of problems are hard to diagnose over the WWW, without seeing, I’m simply guessing

Randy, it doesnt do it with a certain mag and to be honest it doesnt do it but about once every 12 or so mags

If theres no slack, the magazine is as high as it can go. If this is a last round problem it may ba a weak spring if it's the older magazine.

from what it looks like to me, is the little step up for lack of a better term in the AI mag it looks like when it hits that the spring pushes the front 3/4 of the round up and dips the rim down below the bolt so it kind of locks up the bolt. The projectile is pointing up at the scope rings. Do you think that kinda knocking down the steep edge would remedy that problem? Thanks again for your help William and Randy

I checked some new mags I have here and ran them through some rifles and the little step in the follower doesn't tilt the bullet tip up, it just allows the spring to put more pressure on the round to keep it up tight against the feed lips, the ramp in the follower didn’t change the position of the round in the mag. I suspect the feed lips and or a weak spring.
Even though the one mag is near new it could still have a bad or weak spring.
