Hey Guys,

Wife bought me a FAL for my coming home present. I love the rifle, but want to install a rail system onto it in place of the normal style. Can anyone recommend a good rail system and where to get it?

Thanks in advance

Re: Question about FAL Rail System

Chris:
I would check with DSA, they have all kinds of good stuff for the FAL's, I know they have a rail system for your rifle, their prices can be a little steep but the quality is good. Have fun with that rifle, they are a lot of fun to shoot, and dead nut reliable!.

Re: Question about FAL Rail System

Thanks Guys.

I have the L1A1 and it says the rail can fit with modification of the Gas Block Screw. Does anyone know what this would take?

Also, does anyone know of a Clamp On Style Brake or Compensator? My smith said he can't thread it for one due to the size of the barrel.

Thanks

Re: Question about FAL Rail System

I don't know why your smith couldn't/wouldn't thread the barrel for you, but I have seen plenty of L1A1 barrels get threaded for flash hiders. If your guy can't do it for you and you want it threaded, I'd look elsewhere for a smith that regularly works on the FAL platform.

Re: Question about FAL Rail System

Thanks. I am going to check with one of my other friends. He has built a couple and he should be able to let me know who did the barrel work on his. It just looks off to me to not have something there. LOL I know..I'm a little crazy but I like to have at least a flash suppressor on there.

My Smith said the reason he couldn't do it was something to do with the timing being affected if he removed the barrel and that it was not long enough to work thru the mill.

Thanks Guys

Re: Question about FAL Rail System

I had my 18" steyr barrel cut down to 16.25 before swapping it out for a 13" OSW front end so im not so sure what he is talking about as far as the barrel length and the end mill gos but he is absolutely right about not just any one twisting on a barrel on a FAL timing the barrel to the action is important but not as much as the head spacing defiantly find a FAL seasoned Smith
