I am having a copy built of the GAP Rock rifle built on an FN SPR .308 action. The builder has told me that I need to supply a dummy round for him to build the chamber around. I have not set up my reloading station and haven't reloaded in several years. I have conducted a lot of research, and intend to hunt mostly with the rifle, but to get back into shooting. The barrel is a Bartlein M24 Contour in 11.25T. I think I am going to start building loads around the 155gr Bergers as I won't get outside of 600yds for a long time. My research indicates that the 155's are pretty long and an OAL length of 2.800 is where most people seem to find their accuracy.
My Question is: Since I don't have a load developed yet, what should I do in regards to supplying a dummy round to the builder? I have considered just sending a 168 Federal Gold Match, but I thought I would ask some of you with more experience. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
