Question about Tactical Matches

I am interested in shooting some Tactical long range matches with UKD out to 850. Here is my delima. I have never shot in one so I dont know what to expect. I have a POF P308 that I had planned on using but I am worried about weight. I am thinking about building a 223 wydle chamber with a 20" barrel and running 77gr through it. My question is what is the better option. Should I sacrifice and get the 223 bc it will be lighter or is weight even a factor in Tactical long range matches.

dont overthink it bro...plenty of guy lug around ar308 variants, and heavy ass custom 300wm with a even heavier ass S&B mounted to it.....that pof should not be looked at as a problem in any way....

shooting UKD targets is not really about the rifle but how well you know your rifle, your load performance, accurate measuring of your target with your scopes reticle, just do the math, make your best judgment on the wind and let the shot go, have fun!

I know some guys who pack around 338 rifles for this so don't worry so much about weight.
