Does anyone have some first-hand experience with Rite in the Rain Tactical Paper? They say it is weather-proof. Does it really hold up to mud and rain?

Yes. Used their little field notebooks more than a few times. Select your writing utensil wisely. Some work well, some suck much.
However if you are really going to be scribbling in a downpour nothing beats a grease pencil and a whiteboard.

RiR paper is great. Make sure you get the RiR pen or a fine tip sharpie (the pen works better when the paper is actually wet) or a pencil works fine in all conditions.
All my databooks and my field notebook are RiR paper, in SC it is so humid that regular paper will curl even without getting wet.

I second it. I've used the little field notebooks and it works great. It's the same paper.

Love the RIR paper but the RIR pens tend not to work in really cold conditions, pencils and fine tip sharpies are fine
