I've been thinking of getting one of the extended mag boxes for my SPS Tactical 308 to be able to load closer to the lands and still feed from the magazine. I have a couple loads with VLD's I am working on, and the sweet spot I have found for the COL is too long for the factory box by a good bit. I know the action and bolt stop will need to be milled, and it's not something I want to screw around with myself.

The reason I want to go this route versus a DBM setup is because I don't want to spend the money right now for a DBM + inletting the stock. Mainly because I don't have the extra cash laying around at the moment. I don't shoot the rifle in competitions or anything, so I don't think a DBM setup really wouldn't benefit me enough to justify the extra cost.

Has any of you used one of these extended boxes, and did you experience any problems with it? I was looking at the CFE-5 for reference.

What should I expect to pay to have the milling done to the action and bolt stop from a good 'smith? I know there are more than a handful of great gun plumbers floating around here, and this will definitely be handled by one of you guys when it happens

Re: Questions about Wyatts extended mag boxes

Wyatts if fine. They use the factory inlet and for the most part is pretty much a drop in. There single stack system makes for some pretty long mages but I can't complaine about the way they feed.

Dremel,
I have looked at their DBM setup, just don't have the need on this rifle for the DBM. I appreciate the input though. The product I was referring to was their extended box that installs using the factory hinged floor plate.
