I’m in the market for a lightweight titanium suppressor around 6” long for a 20” 300WSM hunting rifle. I have had no prior experience with any of these mentioned suppressor companies; only AAC about 12 years ago. I’ve narrowed my choices down to the following four and would like to know your thoughts if you own one or more of these:

SilencerCo Scythe TI. It’s in a dead heat with the Dead Air Nomad TI XC. They are both similar size and weight with similar mounting options for me. I’ll likely have a A419 Hellfire TI brake and I can put an adapter on any of these to fit the A419 adapter. Both are good companies that quickly respond to email questions. The Scythe has a one port brake installed, but you can buy a brakeless end cap for if you want. The Nomad TI XC does not have a brake, but you can buy a braked end cap. In this regard they are both similar. Finding decibel ratings for both has been impossible. Both are liked by the few reviews people have given them. My gut says go with the Nomad, but I don’t have any real reason to pick it over the Scythe as of yet.

I’m also looking at the Banish Back Country and Meateater by Banish. The Meateater is more interesting as it had a brake that can be turned off and the baffles are removable for cleaning. The company that sells these seems to have a customer service issues that are not quite as bad as Aero, but pretty close and that’s a real detractor for me. They seem to have issues promising things they can’t deliver and maybe over stating performance. The cans are lightweight though.

Any guidance you can offer would be welcome.

I’m a dead air with 419 user. Couldn’t be happier. Top is nomex and bottom is Nomad L. I also have a cgs Hyperion

Older Nomad Ti, direct thread though on a 24" 300WSM. Pretty happy, zero complaints. Debating on a Nomax 33 despite the fact I don't have anything larger than 30 cal. Just don't really need another can with also having a Sandman Ti and Sandman S.

Stay away from Silencer Central (Banish). ATF denied my application after 50 weeks bc SC didn't know how to fill out the application. Nobody from SC reached out to me, I had to track them down. Never once received an apology, only an invitation to buy more overpriced shit. When I asked about cancelling the order they told me there is a 25% restocking fee for a can they couldn't deliver bc their fuck up. Took me a year to get my money back.

I hear ya. I’ve read nightmare after nightmare post regarding them. Seems people either get lucky and it’s ok, or it’s a total disaster.

skip the Banish. No problems with the other two companies for the lightweight cans. I have the nomad 30 and Nomax and will probably get a Ti XC in the future, but I also have a bunch of the dead air mounts so I tend to stay in that ecosystem.

capital armory and silencershop are both the industry standards for buying cans. Silencer Central not so much (but no personal experience with them).

Anyone purchased from Capital Armory? I bought, years ago, from Silencer Shop and it went well.
I have (Capital). Straightforward and without a hitch. Although, whenever I can, I default to Hansohn Brothers. Good people.

Personally, I am put off by SiCo's fulfillment policies on their BoGo sales. Sometimes, in excess of a year to build and ship the "free" silencer ? That's bullshit. I have SiCo cans, but for future purchases, I'm going elsewhere.

Of course Dead Air has this brake:

I’ve never used a brake at the end of a suppressor, but then again my old AAC 7.62SD didn’t allow for one either.
do you plan to shoot it often (or at all?) without the can? when I first started buying muzzle devices I got some brakes, some flash hiders, etc. But now that I have a few cans I really don't care about what muzzle device is on the rifle, as I mostly shoot with the can on the rifle. Just bought a keymo zero today because it's light weight and the blast baffle in the can will do the job just fine (Dead Air Primal on a 45-70).

the only thing I make sure these days is that the suppressor is HUB compatible, so I am not left to the mercy of whatever mounting system is integral to the can. time marches on and I'm sure we will see more mounting systems come out and it's an easy way to make sure your investment is at least a bit "future proof" since cans are a lifetime purchase (IMHO).

DDC Enticer S TI is a great can that has the same end cap threads as Dead Air, so it can use all of their end caps, including the Ebrake. As for the Ebrake, it does a little bit for recoil, but I fully expect the Recoil X to do far better. I’m hoping to get one out for review at some point.

Don't worry about being able to disassemble them.
I fill a mason jar with boretech c4 and soak for a few days, rinse in hot water, and they look damn near new.

I only do this every few thousand rounds maybe.

My BIL had issues with silencer central. We live a short drive (2 hours is short in Montana time) away from their FFL. He waited an extra 3 weeks because they refused to let him pick it up in the shop and they were having shipping issues. This is after 6 months of waiting on them to submit paperwork, I'm assuming because they had to manufacturer the cans.
He bought an auction item at a benefit that included 2 free can certs for a banish. He will never make that mistake again.

Silencer shop and Capital armory are good to go. Also, don't be afraid to look at local shops. My LGS has a kiosk and is a gold dealer with silencer shop, but they regularly get in a ton of stuff through distributors that are sitting on the shelf and not on the silencer shop website.

I have personally been able to use KGM, SIG (first Gen), dead air nomad ti, Lane, Banish, TBAC, and some others. They all sound different, but they all make the shooting experience more civilized. My sig is quiet, and has the best tone to my ear, but it's also 15oz. So I reach for the nomad ti if I'm carrying the rifle as it has the second best sound to me.
The scythe is on my short list, just haven't been able to snag one when they're in locally.

Fair bit of warning on the scythe.......lots of weld failures when guys run them on short barrel magnums. There's a poll over on Rokslide, and its at like 10% failure rate. I have ran mine on a 20" 6prc and 18-22" 6 creeds, but nothing of high case capacity. Lots of the guys had them come apart on larger 30 cal magnums.

I’ve read that in several places. The wsm uses a lot less powder than a 300 prc, around 20 grains I think. But I’m aware of it happening and I’m a bit shy of it because of this. I haven’t heard of it happening with a wsm, it’s always been a larger mag, but…….

The Nomad is what I plan to go with.

I know a guy who blew one apart with a 25 Saum. It wasn't being pushed that hard either. Good plan on the nomad.

I’ve got a banish back country. I didn’t have any issues with silencer central. It is a different process though and you can’t just go pick it up when you are approved. I applied in march and got my form 4 back in the middle of September, but didn’t have my can until after my deer hunt the first week of October. I’m happy with it though.

How have you liked the Nomax?

@VanJoe here’s a thread that has a lot of info on the Nomad:

How can someone describe that as no issues with SC when tons of people in that timeframe were getting cans approved and in their hands in a week??

I’m not defending Silencer Central and I’ve never done business with them, but I do know that after approval, there’s a week wait before they can send it out. That’s what I was told by Capital Armory, where I just picked up a Nomad TI XC.
That delay is self-imposed while they do LEO notification; nothing in the law says it has to be that way. Going through a local shop I can pick it up the second it’s approved. Besides, he mentioned approval in mid September and not receiving it until after the first week of October, which is a lot more than a week.
