Hi, would anyone have some precautions for hand loading for the 7.62 M1a?
Already pitched 60 rounds for fun and quite to my surprise relatively a 1-1.5 moa shooter. However reloading the Winchester factory loads prove to be a waste of energy to even try to reuse ( brass is super stretched).
Purchased Lapua brass, and a fine box of Sierra match king 175.
Thoughts

If the chamber is really stretching Win brass, perhaps there is a headspace issue and the same will happen to you Lapua brass? I use LC LR or LC brass as I do not need absolute maximum case capacity nor really expensive brass.

Google search: glen zediker m14 for basic, but perhaps a bit dated info. An adjustable gas plug will give you more powder options and will let you tune your bolt speed.

I use LC and IMI brass in my M1A's. I would hate to put Lapua through it knowing how they treat brass.

^^^^^^^^ O/P ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ read this. Also read the two articles Reloading for the match m-14 and once fired twice fired.

M1-A / M-14's are tough on brass. Most toss brass after 4-5 loadings. Sometimes, you can get more out of brass if you're careful. I bought my first M-1A in 1974 and have been hand loading for it since then. They are very different from a bolt gun.
