Yes, the Laserex (often confused with the Lasermax, by name) is made by an Australian company. For a short time, Laserex was under contract to Fabrique Nationale (FN) to make integrated, "military grade," visible lasers for the P90 submachinegun. With the development of accessory rail systems for the P90, FN no longer had a need to sell or market the integrated design (which was quite nifty and ergonomic) and dropped the contracts. Laserex, for a time, sold a 5 mW visible red laser kit for Airsoft P90 enthusiasts.
Laserex has recently started a line of lasers for what they call "police" use. This includes IR models that have lower, eye-safe output. The ones I've seen have cylindrical bodies and a clamshell-type, ring mount with integrated dovetail for M1913 / Picatinny rail, and which are tightened via hex head bolts. LaRue makes quick-release flashlight mounts that can be adapted for cylindrical battery housings of various diameters, and which will work with the Laserex.
