Thanks for the input.</div></div> Are you looking specifically for what the military is using for general knowledge, or are you looking for a platform for yourself? If you're looking for a base recommendation here is what I use.
On my MK12 at home I went with the Nightforce Unimount. I prefer mounts that bolt up on the sides rather than the top as that blocks my view of the elevation turret. I don't need a QD mount in the US as I've never had a need to do a scope change in 10 seconds on a one way range.
For that matter even our Aimpoints at work are in a Badger Ord. MAX-50 ring for strength and to avoid the idiot factor for some users. Sometimes you have to remember that if you give a guy two ball bearings in a locked and padded room that when you come back 30 minutes later he will have broken one and lost the other.
I view the civilian use purpose of QD mounts as a matter of convenience for users who swap the same optic across different platforms, but quite frankly with a torque wrench only costing $100 or less it really isn't that hard to do the same with a fixed mount. Personal preference prevails.
