Quick Q about hand guards.

I have a DPMS SASS with a factory (Fulton Armory 12") handrail. Was looking at Daniel Defense rails, ran into some Q's.

I do not care about the gap between the locking ring, as if its not Monolithic, I'm not mounting my optic to 2 different parts.

Is their any advantage of the DD other than a slight reduction (6oz) in weight.
Structurally will I gain anything from going to the 7.62 DD lite rail? I don't see any advantage for me as the locking ring method seems plenty sturdy. (LaRue, SPR's etc... etc..) but just want to make sure.

Any Input would be appreciated.

Besides weight, looks and the name, you don't really get much benefit IMHO. Depending on when your upper receiver was made, the DD rail might not sit flush with your receiver, I believe the newer DPMS flattops are a tad higher.

I'd spend the extra cash on either ammo or better optics. FWIW when I had the JP trigger on my LR308 setup, I thought it was great until I put on Wilson's TTU trigger on there, I was in love. The TTU felt way better than JP for me.

Wilson TTU will have to wait.. I have Giessele SSA-E in the mail...

Thats what I thought, I didn't want to drop $400 on 6oz...
