quick question concering the mk14 ebr

There is one thing that I have been curious about with regard to the design of the sage mk14 ebr that I am hoping someone around here will know about.

Rather than have the sage clip guide scope mount, why not fill the gap by having the picatinny rail extend all the way to the rear iron sight?

Is there a reason for having a gap between the picatinny rail and the sage clip guide scope mount? Would a full length picatinny rail interfere with the extraction of a spent case?

Any explanation will be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

The sage design would make this difficult we just used larue mounts and had no issues.

It would also likely cause ejection issues for the rifle
