Suppressors R700 AAC-SD with YHM thread-on

Hey guys, I’m a long time lurker & am ready to put together a suppressed .308 rig. Anybody have, seen, or heard of a YHM 7.62 thread-on suppressor on a Remington 700 AAC-SD? I’ve searched the site & read about some issues on the lack of threading running all the way to the shoulder but nothing explicitly stating the two mate well with each other. Before buying I wanted to make sure the threads match & see if there are any shoulder issues with the combination.

As long as they are both threaded the same you should be good to go. And I do not see why Remington would thread anything other then 5/8x24.

I have an AAC-SD which is threaded 5/8x24 and my threads turned out to be a little off. I put a RWS brake on it which went on but dont know if its coming off. I am about to send if off to be cut back and re-threaded and indexed for my 30-P1. Not taking any chances.

Instead of spending the money to cut back, thread and refinish.... drop the little extra to go aftermarket barrel. It's more worth it in the long run.

Not sure about the YHM.I have the 700AAC-SD and an SWR Omega 30. The Omega would not screw all the way on, because of that little unthreaded taper. I had to send the can back to SWR, to have the threads relieved a tad so it would screw down to the shoulder.

Ths doesnt sound good. I got a Remmy 700 AAC coming. I wonder if it's specifically tuned for aac brakes and cans.

I emailed Remington a few days ago to see if they would provide the exact dimensions of the threads/shoulder to compare the specs YHM provides on their website. I received a generic response of:

"These are threaded to accept the AAC attachments. The barrel is a heavy 20" barrel with a 5/8" - 24 threaded muzzle to accept flash hiders, muzzle brakes and suppressors."

Not much help...

It appears that AAC cans mate well with the thread pitch on these guns, and others may or may not.

I am with you on this. Haven't added up costs yet and would love to hear your imput. The gun shoots 178 Amax with 43.2 Varget sub moa out to 600, although its slower than molasses in january. I like the 10 twist to stabilize heavies. I have a bunch of bullets that just came in (190gr) and was going to work that direction and maybe 208gr later.

It will be a while until I see the 30P-1 as they are still on form 3, which gives me a reason to start now. It will suck not being able to shoot. Main function of the gun will be shooting steel. Secondary functions would include hunting and possibly a comp here and there.

Adam, what would you do knowing it will be shot with this suppressor? Barrel Specs? I'm thinking of shooting heavies most of the time.. 178gr, 190gr and 208gr. Also a gunsmith here who may have a 30P-1 to index from while threading?

I run the YHM 7.62 phantom on my 700 ACC-SD. However, I use the YHM QD flash hider mount(not direct thread on). I have zero complaints with the fit and finish of the QD mount FWIW.

Thanks Midwestside, I appreciate you weighing in. I would assume the flash hider would have the same specs as the direct thread-on suppressor but Ill have to dig a little deeper to confirm.

FWIW, YHM use to make the flashhide/mounts for AAC years ago. I have an old M4 AAC flashhide/mount that has YHM stamped across the top of the mount.

I currently run a Gemtech HVT with no mounting issues or problems. I'm getting a TBAC 30P-1 and when I emailed the thread specs to TBAC, Zac said it should be no problem.

Hey,

If you ever have a problem with the threads being "too long", you should be able to rectify the problem by adding a machined flat washer (shim) between the suppressor and barrel shoulder, provided it has the right OD and ID and is perfectly flat.
