R700 parts list seem ok?

Out of date, retro and boring ideas. I have a decent r700P in 308 barreled action that shoots well. I want to build it in a similar vain of its military counter parts durable and well designed. Its in a chassis and I really just don't care for the chassis.
Stock Options:
-McMillan HTG or H&S precision police or Manners T5

Floor plates
-Sunny Hill Steel floorplate or Hawkins Aluminum M5 Oberndorf bottom metal or Hawkins Aluminum BDL floorplate or maybe a DBM

Want to keep it nice, simple, mid weight and dependable. I was thinking a McMillan HTG with Sunny Hill Floorplate. Or an H&S with the Sunny Hill steel plate. Would skim bed until I shot the barrel out and had the receiver rebarreled/ new recoil lug.

Seems fine but I would go with a Badger floorplate or DBM. I always wanted a m40a1 clone with a dbm tho.

Hs with the sunny hill bottom metal and don’t worry about bedding. If you wanna bed it just wait until you rebarrel it.

Mcmillan HTG, DD Ross bottom metal, then have action trued when you rebarrel it with M24/40 Contour barrel. If you have an old style rem trigger if have that tuned up by your gunsmith as well.

I had a rifle just like that. Worst gun decision I ever made was selling it.

The aluminum bottom metal is okay and I’ve never had any problems with it. However the DD Ross is the bottom metal for a m40 and you’ll be better off with it if it’s available and doesn’t exceed your budget. You definitely want steel bottom metal so if not the DD Ross then get the sunny hill. Also like athanasios23 recommends, when you get it rebarreled have your action blueprinted. That would be a good time to have the action clip slotted too. Getting it done in phases is a good idea. Watch the px for the stuff you need and you can save a bunch of money. I picked up some DD Ross a few months back for $140 on the px. I got a McMillan a3-5 off eBay for a great price too. So keep your eyes open and take your time.

Against my better judgement, I bought an H&S short action stock. The m24 model with adjustable LOP. I've always wanted that style stock. Now I just need to decide on a floorplate. I guess its going to be a half assed m40/m24 hybrid. I know the DD Ross floorplate is hard to find. What are they going for now since the cloners are picking them up?

If you go with the McMillan stock I would definitely get the sunny hill bottom metal. Then you won’t be buying parts twice later on when you get another barrel and blueprint & clip slot your action.

Spend the money on good parts and forget about “spec” builds as they are not the rifle you are trying to make them be and you will waste money on things that don’t matter like clip slotting and such. Build the rifle to be useful and accurate for you. Been down and seen too many go down the “spec” road and it’s most always a waste as your needs and likes change.

I’m running PTG bottom metal, and it has been flawless. That being said, buy it from somewhere besides ptg, but that’s an entire different thread. Bob at SW Precision used to keep them in stock.

robs right, I have a gun now I have far more money in thanI should..if I did it again I’d do a defiance barreled action from a reputable business and bolt it in my stock of choice. Forget the hype it’s not worth it.

I have bought the steel version (blued) it’s pretty nice but my stock needed some opening up in a few spots for it to sit right. Detachable mags are the way to go now a days.
