Looking for a radial muzzle brake for a 7-Mag that works well and can be turned down to about .720" - .730" and has 5/8-24 threads.

I know Vais make the Micro-brake, but are there any others you word recommend??

Do you absolutely need a radial brake? They are not as effective as say, a muzzle from Area 419. I have one from Heathen on my 308 and it works really well. Look for a self timing brake, they are easier to install and will never be misaligned.

Vais will make you a finished radial brake. Give them the muzzle diameter, bore diameter, and thread info, some cash, and a few weeks. They’ll send you a brake ready to install on your rifle.

I hope you aren't thinking about turning the whole break down to .720. Major diameter of 5/8 threads is .625. That only leaves .05 of material. The Vias breaks you are referring to has 1/2" threads for a .308 to get the .750 OD. I wouldn't recommend you turning your barrel down that thin to go with 1/2 threads either. It's not going to look pretty but just turn the transition down to match your barrel and leave the meat around the threads.
Just my $.02.

Barrel is a Bartlein #4 that will be cut & finished at 24".......I might have screwed up on the diameter at the 24" finished length. I will have to check on this.

I just had a hunting rifle built. I put a KDF radial on it and had it turned to to barrel profile with a #4 Brux barrel. It's the best radial brake that I have used. I have a Vias on another rifle and like the KDF better.

Here is a BART #4 finished at 24” in 7Rem Mag threaded 5/8-24.

If you need more wall thickness to work with on your choice of brake, have them thread it 9/16-24.

"This will be going on a hunting rifle....want something small and sleek contoured to match the barrel"

What you will get is a decorative thread protector that makes a lot of noise.

Top barrel is 0.645 at the muzzle. KDF brake, that has a very gradual taper to 0.685 at the tip. I don’t know what the barrel is threaded as it was not threaded when it was dropped off at KDF in Seguin.

Bottom barrel is 0.656 at the muzzle. Vais brake that swells to 0.745. The barrel is threaded 9/16-32, and wears a Vais brake because KDF would not do that thread on their brakes. I called Vais and gave them the specs. They shipped the brake to me in a couple of weeks.

Is one better than the other? I’m not sure, and it would be an unfair comparison. The top rifle is a 7mm rem mag and the bottom rifle is a 300 Weatherby mag. But, the recoil on the 7mag is very manageable, and the recoil on the 300 weatherby is... tolerable. I prefer the look of the hole spacing on the KDF brake.

Edit to add, both muzzle brakes are very effective at reducing recoil, but the 300 weatherby starts with a lot more than the 7mag. Radial brakes can be very effective, though they are not popular on this site. Below is a shot of my son shooting the braked 7mag...

OP,
Don’t know if you’ve ever handled a #4 Bart barrel before but they are in the neighborhood of a Rem Sendero in profile. They won’t fit some of the narrow forearm sporter stocks. It won’t make for a sleek hunting rifle.

I originally had this rifle in a McM HTG and felt it was too much barrel for that size forend.

You can kinda see how the barrel fills the forend of the HTG.
