Rainier Ultra Match 308 barrels?

Anyone here have any experience with or hear good/bad about the Rainier Arms 308 Ultra Match barrels?

I am considering putting a 20" one on my MA-TEN build, I am starting.

Never used them myself, but always heard good things about them...they always make quality stuff

They are using Shilen Match blanks for those barrels, worked over by WOA. They SHOULD be extremely good barrels, especially when you consider the price tag!

I am waiting on them to make the 16" barrel in the Armalite pattern available (should be soon...next few weeks or so) and then I'll post a full report once I get my build completed with that barrel.

You should hop over to BARFCOM and see if you can locate any builds/reviews there. I know that the interest in these barrels has been high and that Rainier has received nothing but good feedback...I just can't verify that as I have no personal experience with these barrels.

I hadn't looked in on them this week for an update, but that is some damn fine news! Thanks for the heads-up!!!

When they did the initial run, they only offered the 18"-24" tubes with the 16" tubes due "within 4-8 weeks"!! They did a pretty damn good guesstimate on availability because it has been almost exactly 6 weeks!! I'll try to get my order in today if I can call them later on and clarify a few issues with my order first.

Thanks and I'll be sure to put up a review when I get my new project fully assembled (may be first of the year though).

I would get a 16", the difference between that and the 18" is only going to be ~50fps at the most. If it is going to be a strictly bench gun get the 20" or 24".

I wish the mega upper+lower combos and these barrels had been available when I built my 308 AR.

I have a MA-Ten upper and lower with there 16" .308 match barrel on the way, I will have it Tuesday and hopefully have an accuracy report soon.

Definitely something I have to consider, instead of doing 18", I need to decide on 16" or 20".

I had a phone conversation with Rainier Arms last week about their match barrels. First off, they have EXCELLENT customer service. They were extremely knowledgeable and helpful. They had some good info about their barrels, which as ORD said are Shilen blanks cut by White Oak Armament. They're a great deal, IMO.

Ordered a 16" UltraMatch barrel during the Black Friday sale. Received it yesterday. The quality is as good as the Noveske 21" that is gonna replace. I just gotta pick up a gas tube to get it functioning.

I received mine (16") from Rainier right after Thanksgiving and I am very pleased with it based just on first impressions. The one surprising thing to me, despite seeing the weight listed on the barrel before purchasing, is that it is pretty light all things considered. While not lightweight (or even what Armalite would deem their "infantry" weight), it is really nice...roughly 1lb lighter than some of the other match carbine barrels I was considering prior to the UltraMatch.

I am still on track for having my build done by sometime around the first of the year (piece by piece...paycheck by paycheck) and I'll put up a complete range report once I get it assembled and have time to put it through its paces.
