Re: range finder recomendations
My experience with the Zeiss LRF has been good as well. Good optics, bright, good ergonomics, quick ranging, nice reticle.
It has been reliable out to 1100 yds for me. And, look to the SH vendors as you can find a decent price (LibertyOptics, CLNY, etc.). At a recent match, I was side-by-side with a buddy ranging prairie-dog size targets (and IPSC locator targets) from 200-425 yards. Buddy was using Geovids. We were getting the exact readings on each and every target. At 425 yds, the dogs (Titmice at that range) were a tad small to range consistently with 8x. The Zeiss's seemed to be quicker on the read.
I have no doubt the the Swaro does range farther. Typical price/performance tradeoff. Is increased ranging distance of the Swaro (well beyond 1000 yds) worth $200-$300 to you?
No experience with the non-Geovid Leicas (I love their binos though). The Zeiss get me to the ranges that I shoot in competition or practice so good enough.
