Hello all,

I went to the 1000 yard range yesterday with my Savage 10 Tactical in 308 Win, with my 208 gr HPBT loads. May I say, I am VERY impressed.

Rifle specs:
Savage 10 .308 Win accustock, 5R barrel 11.25 twist (nitrided by H&M).
SWFA SS 12x mil/mil scope.
Badger 20 MOA scope base.
Harris bipod.
Triad Tactical stock pack.

Load info:
Hornady 208gr BTHP.
43.6gr RL17
LC 89 brass
Rem LR primer
OAL 2.9 (0.015 off the lands)
2520 average FPS (900' ASL)

These shot exceptionally well at 1000 yards. I had a 10 mil come-up from a 100 yard zero. Wind was a steady 10MPH full-value at 500 yards downrange and a quarter value tail wind at the muzzle. I was holding about 1 mil for windage and made consecutive center hits on a 20x20 gong. This is my first time at 1000 and had such a good time. I plan to take my .223 out there soon to get some real wind-training.
Anyway, I hope this may help some of you looking to load 208gr heavies in your 308 Win; they definitely buck the wind very well + added muzzle energy without much added recoil.
