So after just about reaching the end of my patience a few days ago and still receiving no word on when the new B&C M40 Medalist stock i ordered would be in for my SPS Tac .308; stocky's came through and a nice little package came in the mail today
At first i wasn't very happy with the fit and finish because w/o even trying to install, i could tell that there was no way i could get the bottom metal unit to fit with the random spots of fiberglass(or whatever the material is) protruding into the space where the bottom trigger guard/internal mag metal fits...
Would've been an easy fix with a drill attachment but i used sand paper and a file which took a little longer but worked fine. Turned out the extra material wasn't the only concern and had to take roughly an extra 1/8" off the front of the cutout to get the bottom metal to fit...really not that big of a deal or very time consuming but none-the-less, not a drop in fit.
First thought was the stock looks AMAZING and feels just as good! Cheekrest is noticeably higher and the overall design of the M40 medalist is everything i had hoped for and better.
If there was any question into rather an upgraded stock is worth the money, let me just tell you that in my case at least; it is the single best upgrade you can make on the SPS Tac! (behind good optics of course)
After sighting in with some remington 150 core-lokt which i have had horrible results with and really hate shooting... i moved on to the good stuff.
First up was Hornady 168 gr BTHP Match. While i've been happy with my groups thus far, i still hadn't shot a 5 shot group under an inch (mostly 1-1.5")...3 shot groups no problem.
Well after the first two rounds i was a little confused because i couldn't see where the 2nd bullet had hit? After the 3rd and 4th the hole started to get bigger and realized what was going on...i was actually nervous on the 5th shot because i didn't want to screw up my group lol.
Very first group with good ammo came out at .75" outide distance from the Hornady 168's. Walking up to the target all i can say is i had an ear-to-ear smile on my face.
Next group with Fed 168 Match King's, while not quite as good was a little more exciting because somehow the POA happened to be dead on for the steel plate that is placed way downrange...this has caused me alot of confusion and thought because it's supposedly at 547 yds. Lower elevation, but still doesn't work out with the trajectory. Has to be a wrong distance but pretty exciting hearing the sound cuz i hit it perfectly all 5 shots.
That group measured .625" for 4, and .9" outside for all 5 shots.
I am nothing but pleased with the improvements that the B&C stock gave me. If it was nothing but the look and improved ergonomics i would've been happy to be honest, but this is what i had been really hoping for!
Still have a lot of work to do on my own shooting and definitely lockdown some good information on what ballistics/trajectory i'm truly getting out of my SPS's 20" barrel but again COULD NOT BE HAPPIER with choice of stock!!
Here's a pic of my target...Hornady 168gr BTHP top right, Fed 168gr Match King Top left. You can't see it of course but that steel plate i was talking about is way back in the tan grass.
It's 18" tall and i tried to get a mil read from a different angle seeing where it lined up with the target and measured it at a 1.25 mil hold.

A few pics of the stock...love the Olive web and while i was a little worried about the lack of checkering and "smooth finish", stock actually has a great grip to it and don't think there's any reason to worry about it in wet conditions.
