Razor Gen 2 4.5-27x56 Scope caps???

They cover a range of lense sizes so it just depends. I just put them on a Razor HD LHT and the objective lens is at the top end of that specific defender cap’s size range. It’s very tight to get it on and tough to position straight, but it definitely won’t be falling off. The ocular lens cap fits just right. They seem like decent quality but I’d definitely prefer screw on caps like I have on a Leupold scope.

The trick is if they do slip some is to take some hair spray and put some on your finger and put it inside the rubber part of the cap and slide it on. Let it set and it will stay on without issue and not leave any marks on scope. Works like a charm. Did it on a set that slipped some on me and still on there after a lot of use.

If they are hard to slip on dip the rim that slides over the objective, or the ocular respectively in hot water, dry them off then slip them on while they are still warm it'll slide a lot easier.

I have four of the Vortex Defender sets for my Razor. Two were warranty replacements. Sadly none of the four will stay shut on the front cover. Look at them sideways and they flip open. The fit on the scope is good and tight, but they are worthless if they don't stay shut.

My front O-56 does this as well. After looking it over I noticed the base that slides over the bell was slightly convex on the front side where it mates with the cap. I was able to make it work a little better by slightly bending the rims out. Worked well enough for a while, but I think it has settled back to the original state. Little disheartening to know it's not just mine. I'll probably contact Vortex to see about a replacement.

As far as the E-10 eyepiece cover, I might give @Rob01 's hairspray trick a go. Been putting some electrical tape around my Razor to increase the thickness. Stays on better, but still has some play. I wish my O-56 latched as tight as the E-10 does.

Sounding like the same experience I had years ago with my first Vortex. Can’t imagine how they build such great optics, and have not addressed this issue

I was told I needed a 0-56 , once I got it it was WAY to big !!
If you need one , PM me 👍

Vortex defender caps are junk. They have never fit right enough to open the objective one with one hand. Instead, they slide off the end.

If I have to put hair spray or some other shit on my scope to make them fit, then what's the point.

Vortex needs to go back to the drawing board.

Vortex defender caps work decently on scopes that aren’t their own. They work like crap on Vortex scopes. Imagine that.
For them not to slide off you have to flick them open quickly.

Vortex Defenders fit great on my Athlon Ares ETR. Usually if the objective cover wants to open by itself or is hard to close it's because the cover is jammed on too far. Back it off a teeny bit and it works fine. I have 2 like that.

Personally the vortex caps fit great on my Gen2 Razor. Dont slide off when opening with 1 hand, but when i want to take them off they do come off with a bit of effort. Going on isnt too bad either.

So to the people who say they never fit right, seems like a personal problem haha.

Does anyone know if the Leupold Alumina 56 will screw into the Vortex Razor Gen ii 4.5 x 27 56 objective? I don't have barrel clearance for the Vortex caps with the rings I currently have. And mounting on the inside would work great.
