Anyone had tracking problems with the Razor Gen II mine is only a couple weeks old and I am shooting way low at close ranges like 300 yards. I had to send my AMG back most likely because it was over torqued but I heard the razors were more durable. Getting ready to do a tracking test on it. Something I’ve never done before. Any help or advice would be appreciated. This isn’t due to weather variables way to big of a swing. The weird thing is past 600 I was hitting targets even an 8” tall gopher at 1000

Mine zeros fine like the recticle and the scope the field of view is huge I can run it on 20 power on most stages. When I turn my turrets I get audible clicks you can here up to about 5 mil then they get mushy until I make another full rev. That’s what makes me think there’s something wrong I need to go check my AMG and see if it does the same thing.

Four shots one of the few groups I shoot. Usually I shoot a couple to confirm zero and move out.

    use a target with a .1mil grid

secure the gun on a tripod or a bench vise setup

should be easy to catch poor tracking

Make sure the turret set screws are tight (and I mean super tight), or the turrets will slip. It's one of the few short comings of the Gen II Razor design; the knobs' OD's are much larger than the splined drum at the center of the turret (AMG solved this issue). which means you have a fairly long, skinny screw that can flex and come loose or slip on the drum. It doesn't hurt the Gen II Razors reliability or tracking, but is just one of those things to be aware of. The set screws really need to be tight.

To see if this is the issue, undo the set screws and pull the turret cap off. The black splined drum can be pulled out by using a finger nail, just get under the edge of the drum (it's a slip fit). Once the drum is out, if it has slipped, you'll see the markings on the drum from the set screw. Also, if they are fairly deep, and are hindering getting a solid zero in place because of gouging the drum, contact Vortex, and they'll send you new drums.

At any rate, hope that helps some. I have two Gen II Razors, and every "problem" I've had (two "problems") were actually user error (my fault). These scopes are rock solid; you just need to understand a little bit about the design to trouble shoot any "problems" you think you might have.

I have had this happen with a SWFA HD on a 338 LM. The stray bullets were only on the vertical plane. It ended up being the scope mount allowing the scope to slightly move between shots. The mount was one of their freebees they give away during their sales. I wasted hundreds in lead (of course this had to happen on a Lapua Mag) figuring out the problem.

I don't go cheap on mounts anymore, and I will wait on a good one instead of using a cheap piece of crap to get by.
