RCBS 3 way cutter?

Anyone used the RCBS 3 way cutter what did you think?

I have not purchased one as of yet. However, I do believe it would be worth it just to cut down on the amount of prep time. It takes me longer to chamfer and debur then it does to trim, given that this would be a huge time savings.

They work great, and you can also set them up in the Hornday L&L case prep center.

They do work well if you take time to set them up right. I trim for multiple calibers so find it a ball ache to set up the 3 way trim each time. Also find if you are not careful it takes too much off at too steep and angle and ends up turning the case mouth into a sharp edge.
I have reverted back to trimming and then chamfering by hand which works out faster for me when doing smaller lots.. As I said though if you take the time to set it up right it should work well.

I have the .22 amd .30 3 way cutters and LOVE them. Just follow the instructions on it and you are set. After over 2500 .223, 2000 5.7x28, 1000 .300 WSM and nearly 2000 .308, the 3 way cutter is simply the way to go.

The RCBS three way trimmers work great. The RCBS Trim Pro Power is good but only does about three cases a minute. I trim brass in lots of a hundred or so in front of the TV so it's not terrible but there are faster, though more expensive, trimmers out there.

Buy the cut head for all diameters, that way you don't have to spend time to set them up. I trim usually in bulk so not a big deal for me.

The other night I was trying to figure out why they (three way cutters) would be hard to set up. I didn't think of using one and chaging the pilot. I bought one for each caliber. Today the Sinclair catalog came and says buy one and a pilot for a different caliber and it all made sense. Depending on your volume it is worth buying the extra cutter head.

Yep I think it is worth buying a separate cutter head for each calibre. Last night I decided to set mine up for some Federal .308 brass I'd got kicking around, didn't take too long and the 3 way head did a great job - trimming exactly to length every time and a nice chamfer on the OD and ID. Just wish the cut on the inside was not at so steep an angle, sometimes it can still scratch the bullet (if neck tension is high from a FL size), although I suspect I just need to mess around more with the pilot depth to get the best cut.

I had to reset the "factory adjusted" inner trimmer on my 22 caliber trimmer. I did about 600 cases when I first got mine and the last 100 or so weren't chamfered inside. I don't know if it helps or not but to reset mine I started out by setting it to cut length without either chamfer then set the inside then outside. The inside is a pain because it's just the set screw so theres no easy way to adjust it.

I sometimes set mine to chamfer outside and just cut the burr on the inside. I then follow-up with a vld chanter tool in a cordless drill. If I don't want a vld chamfer, I'll set it normally.
