I ditched my very new Lyman powder dispenser last week due to inconsistent amounts being thrown and the scale being inconsistent when putting the bowl on and of -not a hell of a lot .2-.5 gr off , enough to know a few charges were a little more powerful than others.I then purchased a RCBS powder dispenser which didn,t work -took it back for another -that one couldnt be calibrated -took it back and got another .This one does calibrate and does throw powder ok but -wtf- if I leave open the cover to stop breeze it throws ok ,if I close the cover it automatically drops its screen weight down from 44.3 to 43.6 or 8 on the exact same bowl of powder? the screens number when calibrated can move 157.o7 to 157.08 for example also .I read these machines are the business- are there chinese nock of,s being sold also or is god just not shinning his lucky light on me or am I asking to much ?

Re: RCBS POWDER DISPENCER

this topic has been .......well .....its been around for quite some time....to get pedestrian stuff to work at levels that champions require is a very difficult task....some say voltage regulators systems help,,,,others lead charmed lives....some even utilize the search function here on the hide.....but IF YOU WANT GOOD AMMO...you got to get the best gear to make good ammo....and them electronic scale ain't it....

others will chime in here to add their own brand of voodoo

Re: RCBS POWDER DISPENCER

that,s interesting Boltripper, the voltage regulator I just might try , a beam maybe better but even its like driven a manual to an auto -auto,s such a breeze -mmmm when it works.I havent got aspirations of being a champion but now you mention it ,it does somehow have a nice ring to it -maybe ill try harder.I really want to see if I might have a wobbly nock off of a real RCBS unit and how they normally function.I will do a search also .cheers

Re: RCBS POWDER DISPENCER

If you close the draft cover and your weight changes, you probably have a static charge built up on it. I wipe my whole unit down with a used dryer sheet and it helps quite a bit. I had the Lyman 1200 also and didn't like it at all. It just wouldn't hold a weight without drifting. You never knew what your charge actually was and it got worse the more charges you dispensed. My RCBS has been dead-nutz accurate. It is slightly more stable without my air conditioner running so, there might be an issue with your power supply. You can order higher quality power supplies that output a more stable voltage. It might help.

The RCBS, like everything else, is Chinese. Try the power conditioner; don't use fluorescent lights; watch for drafts; keep away from other electric appliances....
