Really PO'd about Sako rifle

Bought a Sako 75 in 270 WSM about 5 years ago, just never got around to shooting it. I guess I have too many guns.

Took it out late this summer, was going to hunt with it this year. The rifle would not shoot, tried changing mounts, then scopes, torqued bolts to a dozen configurations, 3 factory loads & maybe about 5 handloads. They all shot 2 to 3" @ 100 yards.

Sent the gun back to Beretta, they said it was out of warranty and would charge me $90.00 to look at it. Told them to send the gun back to me.

I own 5 Sako rifles, all except this one shoot under 1" with almost anything, told them my next rifle will be Steyer.

1. Borescope the barrel to determine whether there is an obvious problem with the bore.

2. Try different ammunition (bullet, powder load,... if you handload)to determine whether you have an ammo issue.

sorry for your bad luck....don't think another import will find you any joy though

i have a thought though....i would remind them brain surgeons at beretta that you intend to take said Sako to as many gunshows in your area as you can (all of them) with a very large sign about what bad BAD quality sako and beretta is shipping out to the US market these days and to beware or the nonexistent accuracy and possible safety issues.

I went through the same on a 75. If it's one of the rubber stocks changing it will
cure it. Mine now is well under an inch and sometimes under 1/2".

Have it pillar bedded into a McMillan stock & tune the trigger - this should help you out.

Every Sako 75 I have owned has been a hammer!!

Gei,

I wouldn't give up on it yet. My most recent build was lucky to hit the paper at 100 with the first 25 rounds. Seriously. Then all of a sudden it came together. There must have been a bur in the bore that I overlooked. The rifle has been great since.

You bought a good rifle from a company you trust. Bore scope it and try again. Especially if you have nothing to lose. I'll be surprised if your next range report isn't better.
