Rear Bag help with KRG Xray, no spigot,

I am limited to mostly shooting from a bench

so I am having difficulty establishing a good, comfortable position behind my rifle. I set it up according to the online training, eye relief and sight picture are good. My problem is my rear bag (I think)

not sure if I need a bigger bag or what. I have a weibad berry bag (rectangle shape) held vertically (long part of the rectangle up) and folding the bag i can get the rifle to settle nicely into the bag BUT the bag is not stable enough and i get some odd horizontal POI shifts as things wiggle around (yes, recoil management etc, I am working on it)

holding it horizontally the bag seems to be slightly too short, I have to fidget with the bag constantly to get it settled in and I struggle to build a good consistent position.

today I was shooting off a bench and threw down an old home made bag under the berry bag and set up more benchrest style vs. the normal way to use a rear bag. the gun settled nicely and I put 10 shots into a .5" group, and 5 shots into a different .3" group.

after that experiment/experience I have concluded that I either need a different rear bag or a different setup with my bipod. for those of you using the KRG chassis, what bag do you find comfortable to use?

Try some known quantities for a rear bag like a regular TAB Gear or the TAB Str8 Laced

With my KRG W-3 from a bench, I particularly like the Red Tac Gear Rear Bag. The cylindrical shape is easy to control and the bag is nice and stable.

You might want to take a look at Triad Tactical's "wedge" bags, they make a small and large version. Judging from the elevation you are getting from the two bag system you tried, you will probably find the large bag more to your liking.

I use this one on my KRG, the str8 laced one. I do own a unipod deal but most of the time it is folded up and the flat bag comes out.

Thanks for the recommendations, i will look them over and try a new one. . .it seems i spend more time on next gear itus then i do shooting

You might also consider adding the new KRG angled bag rider. Much nicer for adjustments on the bag

I've found the Str8 Laced bag to flatten itself out when in use. It makes the two lowest positions of the bag almost the same height. Does this bag have the same problem, or is it more rigid and keep it's shape better?

It has better fill in it, that doesn't deflate like older fill did. I know what you mean by the Str8 laced bag flattening out. These bags are really solid once tension is applied. They are a little larger and easier to tension them too. I have Str8, SAP, Red Tac bags; this is my go to now, the rest have been relegated to spares, loaners.

After reading this post I started looking at rear bags again myself. I have a few, but was looking for something different. I came across the Crosstac one way stretch fabric rear squeeze bags and ordered a 6" and 8". I will see how well they work. Had some good reviews.
