Rear bag suggestions

It will require changes in your technique but is called "The answer" for a reason.

TAB Gear

Triad Tactical

Armageddon Gear

All of the above will work, mainly it's about technique more so than gear. If you're bladed to the rifle or using inconsistent pressure for example then that can make things harder on yourself.

This is the way. I tried 4 different rear bags before I settled on this one.

Sorry bench 99%
True bench rest style means you want Dima, Seb, or Protektor. If you want something to squeeze/manipulate like you would a prone bag on the ground…but seated at a bench, then wiebad, Armageddon gear, Tab, Precision Underground, or Taylor’s bags. All a matter of preference and technique. None is “better” than another.

I also have Marc Taylor's bags (all three sizes) and the Answer is all I used in a recent 3 day SH clinic in OH.

They are very good. Just the right size.

I also have Precision Underground bags and think they are also very well made and very functional. I've been thinking about getting in touch with Jesse and see if he would make me one that's just a touch more narrow for my little girl hands haha

These ^^ are the two lines of bags I would recommend for a bench/prone "bipod and rear bag" shooting

The first stage of the rear bag journey is the realization that at this journey’s end, you will own 4-10 bags lol

I currently use a Taylor Compromise bag for bench use (I’m not a prone guy). It’s a little shorter than the Answer.

But I like to approach bench shooting as if I was prone. This is following @Lowlight ‘s teachings.

This means I sit higher than a typical bench shooter and I also lean forward much more. I’m trying to get most of my mass behind the gun.

This position makes me gravitate towards a slightly shorter bag than the prone guys use, I guess.

For certain guns a precision underground 3D bag works, but I almost never use it.

I’ve tried to use a benchrest front rest (Bald Eagle Slingshot) and a 13b Protektor rear rabbit ear bag, but damnit I just am not feeling it. I feel…disconnected…from the experience, I guess.

Squeeze bags let me feel like part of the shoot.

I’m still interested in trying the Edgewood Softy, however. It’s designed to be squeezed even though it’s a benchrest bag. Spendy for another rabbit ear experiment!

I have a few different bags. I like my shmedium game changer but I also use this one I made myself. Just depends on what I’m doing or what I’m shooting off of.

I reckon that I've used a number of different options over the years. But for the two I've used the most over the past 5 years would be the Wiebad Berry Bag which I used often for the first year or so of shooting NRL22 and I liked it well enough and still will use it on occasion without any major complaints...

But for the past couple of years I've primarily been using the Armageddon Gear "squishy" rear bag and I do like it a lot. A bit of a different (although likely less durable) fabric that seems to give a fairly unique feel that I've been really digging so I've been sticking with it more often than not.

At the end of the day, I think a lot of it will come down to personal preferences and properly employing whatever piece of gear you settle on using. I'm not sure about others but shooting bags often work out a lot like holsters do for me in that I find ones that I like but always have a wandering eye for the next 'best' thing and keep buying new brands/designs to try out and end up with boxes of 'em. I'd be lying if I didn't say that I've been looking very hard at the Taylor bags that were already mentioned here several times and wouldn't be surprised in the slightest if I break down and buy all of those options to try out because of the absolute glowing reviews I'm always reading.

Good luck either way in what you decide on and please let us know what you end up with/how you like it.

If you want a true rear bag, you want a Taylor was here,

If you want to have a one bag solution you do a pint sized game changer

remember we have 3 types of bags, a Rear Bag, a Support Pillow and a front rest or game changer style so choose wisely

but also watch Chris' video on shifts when using oversized bags, as it matters

As an aside, the word is “bipod”. A singular unit with two legs. When did it become “cool-guy gunfluencer” to call the single rifle support device a “bipods”. Jeezus. Do you shoot off a tripods? I didn’t think so.
Many do shoot off tripods, both hunting and in matches, I have actually shot off a monopod a couple of times.

Read carefully. I shoot off a, singular, three-legged tripod a lot. Never of “a”tripods. Likewise, never off “a” bipods….although often off a bipod.

It’s a linguistic pet peeve. I just happened to watch the above video and he says “some shooters load the bipods”. Phil Valeyo refers to the singular unit as “bipods” too. It makes no sense.
