Forgive me as I am not a gunsmith but does a barrel have to be removed for a rechamber? I have an XCR Tactical in .223 I want to rechamber to the AI just to be different. I am just worried about the coating on the rifle being damaged if the barrel has to be removed. Thanx for your help!

If you want the best results, then the bbl should be removed. I had rifles rechambered to Ackley configuration without removing the bbl and they shot great. You just need to make sure that yoyu set up your dies for the proper headspace. That said..the rifles that I rechambered without removing the bbls were usually factory bbld rifles that were half worn and I figured there was nothing to lose.
