Is there a preferred method of "fitting" an adjustable recoil pad? I'm fine with the overall fitting of the rifle (length of pull, cheek riser, etc.) but I've never seen anything on properly fitting the recoil pad. Thanks in advance for any advice!

What stock/chassis?

I assume you mean up/down/side to side/cant? Like on an MPA etc

I set it to be most comfortable at whatever position I shoot most.

Get in position, have someone help you if you can and set it where it’s most comfortable.
Really comfortable it’s pretty easy to find repeatedly.
You may have to make a slight change to it to ease bench or positional shooting.

If bench or positional is your primarily used position then set to them and you may have to slightly tweak it to ease prone.

I'll get this going agin. Recently I've been trying to dial in the fit of my MPAs (one impact, on axiom) and kept noticing that I would cant the rifle to the right and I could not get a good purchase on the butt pad. So I moved the recoil pad down one notch and canted the pad to the left a little bit. Is this all really a matter of what fits you best are are certain positions better for certain shooting types?
