I am looking for a bump helmet or "cap" to mount my AGM taipan monocular to while night hunting. Arms get tired and the constant movement of scanning with the monocular in hand can't be beneficial.

I have seen recommendations for the Crye Nightcap, and that makes sense for my needs. Coyotes, coons, bobcats etc. don't shoot back so no need for a fancy helmet. But will a cheap bump helmet from amazon be more comfortable?

Not looking to spend a lot here, as I do not night hunt constantly, nor am I LARPing. Just want to make things a bit more efficient and comfortable. Looking for suggestions from others with experience.

Also, will this mount be what i need to actually secure the AGM taipan to the helmet/cap?

Tagging in, need same info for non ballistic helmet, and mount that would work for a Taipan TM25.

Well you’re in luck because I got most of my stuff together and taking it all out tonight.

Got this helmet and knockoff g24 mount. Both seem to work well enough for what I’m doing:

LOOGU Fast BJ Base Jump Tactical... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B011U1ZJ8K?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

Gexmil CNC PVS15/18 Night Vision... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07PPDYVGW?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

I ordered this mount for the taipan itself and I’m mixed on it:

It seems to be designed well enough, but the “tightening” screw to lock in your pupil distance never really worked, so the Mount flops in and out without any resistance if you space it away from your eye. Luckily I’m dumb, so not much space between my eyes. Also, the screw where it mounts to your taipan is separate and needs an Allen key. I frequently use my taipan for day hunting too, so a bit of a pain to screw it and then unscrew it. Also, there’s nothing to secure the lens flap. Annoying.
However the ability to quickly flip it out to the side is a nice feature and gives you more room for the taipan to clear your guns optic as the taipan is longer than most monoculars.

As a backup, I ordered this taipan mount, same as the one I linked the OP:

Haven’t received it yet, but I like that the screw is captive and can be done by hand for the taipan. So easier to take it on and off and don’t have to worry about losing the key. It also has a built in slot for the lens cap. Just not sure how it will fit my face in comparison.

Whichever Mount I like more I’ll keep and sell the other. Like most of this shit, you don’t know until you know.

This is the best Non-helmet system I have used for NVG's. Not cheap but endlessly adjustable, and has options for counter weights. I have used this with GPNVG's for several hours a night and they remain comfortable and supportive. Other skull mounts with a less rigid frame are fine for cases where you need something small and fold able for short duration use, but they don't come close to providing the stability this offers. I don't work for Ops core, I've just had really good results using this product.
