There has to be a thread someplace here on selecting rings, however, have not found it yet.

Looking for ideas on a good but moderate set of 1" medium rings to use on a good bull barrel AR-15 upper from Compass Lake Engineering that has the extended rail already installed. The setup is temporary and thus the price of rings has to be much less than Badger rings, as will just get the Badger or similar if nearly the same ;-).

Friend's Leupold 30mm X35 scope and Warne rings worked fine (he decided to only single load rounds for min group size and I wanted to be able to feed from the mag on an AR so we each are doing our own rifle), however, I tried my Leupold 6.5x20 VarXIII with 1" Burris Z rings (what was locally in stock) and could not get the windage on except with max scope adjustment, when bore sighting. Also the bases did not fit the rail that great when being tightened up (maybe Weaver vs. Picatinny issue?).

The local store gave me another set of Burris Z rings to try, but thinking easiest is order in as set of ???? (Warne being first pass).

Thanks.

+1 I have a set and they are pretty nice considering the price.
