Thought I would pass this along. I was watching Sons of Guns last night and they were on the second prototype of a shotshell gatlin gun. The best I could tell it took a couple of days to redo the build with 3 Saiga shotguns.

My wife picks her head up from the laptop and asks

Wife: "How long did it take them to build that?"

Me: "A few days or so..."

Wife: "It's been almost a year and a half and you still don't have yours?"

Me: "Yep, because my build doesn't involve a sawzall, plasma cutter, and a MIG machine..."

PRICELESS!!!

I just saw some olds episodes and was thinking to myself, when are they gonna do new ones or did dude explode after Chris asked about dating his daughter! I haven't seen any ads for new episodes.

I am sure they are swamped with so many new “game changers” “for our boys in the box”, they will get all the ideas sorted out shortly and wow us some more.

They've never made anything on that show that impressed me. After watching the show I dont think I would ever buy from them. Maybe their stuff is quality, I dont know, but they're not for me.

I didn't say with the looks, but there was some engineering involved I would speculate!

Now, now, everybody. I'm as big a fan of these Red Jacket threads as the next guy but let's be fair: they did make that ATV mounted shotgun for that injured vet. Was it impressive? Not particularly. Practical? Nope. But it was a nice thing to do (for free might I add...) and it made the guy happy.

I heard they are no longer making episodes, what i heard was the daughter's snaggle tooth wasnt a snaggle tooth at all, it was an alien named Quatto, it started talking saying "OPEN YOUR MIND TO ME QUAID" and it scared Will so he shot it in the face with a belt feld 12 guage. It really shook them up and they are on a safety stand down until further notice.......just what I heard

Well, I think Will was not only double tapping his Saiga's but his lil snaggletooth also, that's why he was so pissed to find out 1 of the help was splashing in his kiddie pool too!!!

However, I have no proof and purely speculation

Thing is, they were supposed to be actually fairly decent at AK work before Tons of Dumb came out but now they look like a bunch of buffoons and even if I were in the market for a Kalashnikov, I would go elsewhere...

Well there's not much out there that's interesting in gun world. Think about it, does the general public and all those couch-warrior 14 year olds want to watch the boys from GA Precision turn out a 3/8MOA Crusader, or do they want to see a redneck weld a pair of AK's to his helmet and shoot some tannerite with it.
I sure as hell know what'd be more entertaining to watch....

So, Louis, you can bash them for a totally rediculous lead time on an AK, but no one else can... How selfish of you.

Do you really think what they produce is worth a year and half wait??? I might consider that for some engraved, gold inlaid masterpiece, but not for a RJF "Rube Goldberg Special" AK with half assed paint job. I'm just saying...

Also, I'm curious what the "totally different client base" is that they "cater to" ???

Unfortunately I've watched every episode, and they have never built anything. They dont build their AK's, putting together an AR is the equivalent of Peg "A' into Hole "A". (not to knock those of you who build AR's). Anything on the show that they need to build they have to call in an expert.

That whole show makes me nauseous.

... how come none of the shit I shoot explodes like that. must be a southern thing.

If you go to their website you will see that they sell explosives to be placed on targets to get the massive explosions you see on their show. It is all Hollywood camera tricks!

Someone had mentioned that their targets blow up, I was simply providing an explication. Personally I could care less what they do or don't do, they are not relevant to me.

First off, I am sure that what they make for the most part is quality, and we don't even see a quarter of the work they actually do when building something such as the "1000 yard AK". I have read a some posts from Will himself on another forum where he is a sponsor, and I do think he is a good guy.

Sencond, a few of the things I have seen them make are simply stupid, like that motorcycle/browning machine gun. Who seriously thought that was cool? They don't really come across as professional either, and from the little I have read about their products, they have really inflated prices.

know what gets more tv viewers? is it quality and innovative work or drama? i'll give you a little hint. it's not quality and innovative work. if daily drama is what it takes to have a tv show, i want no part of it.

Their antics of grinding, torching, stupid bullshit remarks similar to HS kids in shop class and feeling the need to 'blow up' everything says damn little about guns in general and gunsmithing in particular!!!!!! They are giving non gunowners the exact image that the anti gunners have been portraying us as for years, insane, incompetent, low IQ members of society.

Real smiths wouldn’t make it halfway through one episode before they pulled the plug. I have been trying to get my 17 year old son to take an interest in the shop, but he says it’s boring. Just can’t compete with World of Warcraft...

Which brings me to the real point here. Just like SD's post referenced, do you think the liberal TV producers were trying to do the shooting industry a solid by seeking out these hick assclowns and having them portray the entire industry? Have you ever noticed, that when they do a segment on guns in the news or on a TV program they search the countryside for Bubba, Boo and Cooter who look like they can’t form a complete sentence and then do their best to make them look stupider than they are and hold them out as representing the entire shooting industry…

In the past few years polls on the favorability of gun ownership and gun owners has been trending up. Do you think the irresponsible antics of these self-serving, ignorant, hack job experts serves to improve the image for the shooting sports industry? Or, for us boring, hard working smiths who rely on this industry to make a living? So, when the Obamanista’s come to kick in your door and seize your guns because your too irresponsible to own them, you can send Will (at the shut down) RJF a thank you letter for saving you from yourself…

So, in my opinion they deserve to be pilloried here in the forums, so the rest of us are on record in our opinions of this kind of crap.

Oh, and a word of advice, if you are ever boating on the river in East Baton Rouge, LA, don’t violate the No Wake Zone!!! The Sheriff there has a river patrol boat with an M240B and Mk19 40mm Grenade launcher mounted on the stern and he’ll blow your ass clean to wake violator hell!!!

A toolmaker, injection molder, real gunsmith, crackho, pornstar, leaders of drug cartels and their associates on both sides of the border, Jerry Sandusky, Rod Blogoiovich(sp) all have "a living to make"! Do you include them in your defense? Why not just turn off TV and give them a break? Yea, I know, not a fair comparison because of what is 'legal/illegal' and what RJ is doing is! My point is you think we/us/everyone should either accept their behavior/methods or shut up and not watch!

As for your last comment "I bet if any of the smiths on here made it onto TV they'd get the same shit", I find that statement incorrect for the majority. I highly doubt skilled machinist, gun builders and business men like William Roscoe, George Gardner, Mike Bush, Chad Dixon, etc would waste their time building AK minigun/1000 yd sniper rifles and Saiga shotguns on a clusterfuck mount!!! If they by chance used an angle grinder etc on one of their builds I am betting they damn sure wouldn't let the camera run and talk like a couple of 12 yr olds while doing it!!!! Oh, and they probably would put on a clean T-shirt before going to work in the morning, especially if there was a camera crew. The 'crew' of RJ gets the shit because they DO NOT act like the majority of business men and especially the numerous gunsmiths I know, have known. Again, I find your defense of them and their antics confusing and baffling really!!!

Well, I am done "picking on" the RJ crew, however, I will not stop sending cupcake nude photos of myself despite Will's threats to cease and desist!!!! My belly ain't no bigger than her daddy's so I think I still have a chance at being happy at least once in my life.

Wow I just read that whole thread.

There are a few companies that make suppressors for shotguns. They did not do anything all that special.

I know I would like to watch a real smith make magic happen. But that would not bring the masses of mouth breathers that tv needs. A start to finish clock would be cool also. Many do not know how long it can take. Some stuff is kind of fast and other stuff is just slow.
