Redding #1 shell holder and Lapua .308W Brass

I am having a problem with getting Lapua 308W brass to fit easily into the Redding #1 shell holder. It's almost impossible to get the case to slide into the holder. I've cheched it with two other lots of Lapua Brass with the same results. Winchester,FC,LC, and Remington brass - no problem. Anybody else experience this ?

Update: new Blue box 308W Laupua Brass fits no problem.

I used a little rubber wheel in the Dremel to break the edges and polish the inside of the channel. Solved the problem.

Some shell holders (or brass) are a little too thick, and won't fit in a spec shell holder. I've seen this some with the belted cases and WSM rounds. It's a PITA.

Lapua brass is known to be slightly larger on the outside diameter of the case head. SOME custom bolt action rifles have to have the bolt face opened up to fire it.

And...sometimes it is the inside diameter of the extraction recess that is the problem. JMHO

i had same problem, but mine was a Lee shellholder in an autoprime.. everything fit, but brand new Lapua brass.

i took it to my local gunshop to show them, and they gave me a new (Lee) shellholder, and i havnt had any problems since.

i guess it was just a tighter-tolerance holder off the production line...
