So I got a new Redding Comp neck sizing die set today that includes the Comp neck sizing die, body die and comp seating die for my 300 WM. I read through all the instructions. Cleaned all the dies with a good bore solvent as directed. I tested the neck die on some brass I shot yesterday and I worked beautifully. I tried the body die on some once fired brass I shot in my old barrel and the case wouldn't go in the die but 2/3 of the way in. I tried using a little more force and still nothing.Same with the brass I shot yesterday. When I lowered the handle, it felt like it was going to rip the rim off. I used a good case lube. Is it possible the die was shipped out of spec? I am going to call Redding in the morning, but I figured I would check with y'all first.
Thanks

Re: Redding body die issue

What case lube? Did you shoot/lube the ID (inner dimension) of case/neck well?

I would assume that if your 2/3 of the way and it just stops you have an issue with expander ball. Try taking it apart and color the expander ball with a black sharpie.... You should be able to see a clear wittiness mark and may explain your problem.

Hope that helps and best of luck.

What Birdhunter and Jagged77 said.

I had the same problem. I get these with new dies. As soon as there is any resistance of the case going into the die, stop.

Withdraw the case out of the die, re-lube the case and try again. You may have to do this three or four times until it goes into the die with out any difficulty.
P.S. I use Imperial Sizing Lube.
