Hey guys, thinking of getting the Rekon tripod as my first to shoot off of. My buddy has one and it seems real nice, although I'm a newbie. He raves about it being the best bang for the buck. He says it's super solid and really likes it except it's not the lightest. It's about 300 bucks with the head. He said the ballhead's super solid even with a heavy gun. Do you guys know of a better bang for the buck out there?

Another option is to get something like the Tricer which seems dang nice and is also about 300 bucks but with no head. And I could throw a sandbag on top for close to the same price.

Not sure where to put my money. What do you guys think?

Prob both. I keep reading that clipping in is a bit more stable but a bag is quicker and offers quicker follow ups due to the straight back impulse. Not sure which option would be lighter and if there's a big difference.

I'm not familiar with that tripod in particular but if you want to shoot off it often the beefier the better. I very rarely shoot off my tripod, it's basically only used for glassing.

this is the one I have and have been very happy. I love the inverted legs.
