Curious if anyone is reloading for their M107a1 using the Hornady 750gr A-Max projectile? Load data says the COL on 50 BMG is 5.450 but Hornady says the 750 Gr A-Max COL is 5.730. I know people are shooting factory made A-Max in their Barrett's and I do not have one currently to measure the COL on it. Hoping to get someone's input from their experience.

Not to sound like a dick but i'd say that semi auto barret wouldn't be very accurate either way. My guess is you woulnd't get the bullet close enough to the lands for COAL to matter and you'd be limited by the magazine length, with that being said the closer you get to the lands the better so i'd just look at that and if your lucky maybe it will work itself out.

if i had the money to buy one of that rifle, i'd get a custom reamer made by pacific and have them design it so that magazine's coal will keep the amax's ( or better yet lehighs or something) right off the lands and still function the magazine, then send the reamer to a custom barrel maker and get it all machined out right or chamber it yourself if you have the experince. I'd think barret would have allot of room in the throat to account for the wide range of bullets fired from that gun and the 750amax is not likely to be were it should off the lands

but i guess if i was accuracy you were looking for you would have looked into a different action. idk. I have a serbu, i have a really long coal to get the bullets off the lands , it shoots ok.

Appreciate the input, accuracy is only going to be so so with a M107a1 and I get that. Just getting into the research on reloading for it and I want to be able to have some rounds that are better than ball for some situations. The C.O.L. listed in Hornady's book just through me off and thought I would see what other know about it. I'll add the Lehigh's to my research list. Thanks!

Using a sample size of one, Mr. Gunsngear got good results from factory loaded AMAX. Much better than standard ball ammo.

Thanks, when I was doing my research before purchasing my M107a1 this is one of the videos I saved. I was torn between the M107a1 and the M82a1. I get that it's not a precision rifle, just looking to have some go to rounds for better accuracy when needed.
