Reloading Dies Who makes the best dies for .300 WM

Looking to reload for .300 WM I have been using RCBS exclusively for all calibers and now would like to try something new for the new rifle.

I do not want to collet size just looking for the best for the caliber.

Redding makes great dies.

Whenever I get a new gun/caliber my go to dies are a Redding type s bushing full sizing die and a LE Wilson chamber type seater. I have had great results with them.

I also exclusively use Redding's Competition Seater with the Match Type S dies.

+1 on the Redding Type S FL dies and Competition seating die. The critical thing with sizing 300 WM brass is not to oversize it so it will headspace of the shoulder. This will require a good comparator in setting up your dies and only bump the shoulder between .001 and .002. This along with annealing the brass will provide for uniform sizing and extended case life. I don't use the expander plug with bushing dies.

Forster Micrometer Seater's work great, and redding type s bushing dies are much better that rcbs, lee, forster etc

When I add a new accurate and long rifle cartridge, I buy:
1) The chamber finish reamer with solid pilot
2) The headspace go gauge
3) The Forster seating die, and then modify the seating stem mouth.
4) The Forster FL sizer die, and have Forster hone out the neck on their Hardinge collet lathe to .003" smaller than my loaded ammo neck size.
5) The Lee collet neck die and polish the a) collet, b) collar,c) mandrel/ decapping pin on my lathe.
6) If I will need to turn necks, I make some neck dies from 7/8-14 threaded rod and make some mandrels for turning necks on my lathe.

When I add a new handgun cartridge I buy:
1) The cheapest Lee die set I can find.

There is nothing wrong with the RCBS dies that you have been using. If you just want a change, decide how advanced you want to go. You can do neck bushing dies, FL dies with a neck bushing, hand dies with an arbor press. The list goes on and on. Personally, I either use the Redding competition dies or Wilson dies on my custom rifles and the Redding Deluxe die set on my factory rifles. The Redding Deluxe set is just the standard FL set with a neck sizer included. Its a little cheaper as a set than buying a neck die later.

My advice for loading a 300 WM, or any other belted magnum, is to set your sizing die to size the case to headspace on the shoulder, not on the belt. The cartridge is not hard to load for, just don't let the belt confuse you.

There is really no wrong choice for choosing a brand of die. Redding and Hornady are favorites her on "The Hide". They all work. Lightman

Yeah, Bart Bobbitt shot a 3.325" 20 shot group at 800 yards with a .308 in 1997 using RCBS dies. He does hone the neck out and removes the expander ball.

I reload for my .300 win mag and use a RCBS FL sizing die with a Redding competition seating die. Nothing wrong with RCBS, they make a good die.

Redding S-type Neck Die, Redding Body die and Forester Ultra Micrometer seating die. I found the Forester is less expensive and easier to adjust seating depth than the Redding seating die but both are really nice.
