Finally got this Rem 308, 20” 5R to shoot consistently.
Problem with group shifting after cold bore shot, traced to Rem Picatinny rail coming loose!
Must have used Rocksett when first installing.
Checked rail/scope and found 1/32 to 1/16” movement!
Re-Installed with Blue LockTite.
Checked all mount and action fasteners to correct torque values.
Group is a 5 shot group, no cooling, just shot, 100yds.
As good as I can do.
If rail again becomes loose, I will install another rail.
Next we will adjust the factory trigger but probably will ultimately go with a high end Timney.
Scope is a Leupold Mk4 with the hideous Moa dots I got off eBay.
If Leupold ever replaces reticles, will get a modern reticle.
For now I am happy with the rifle!
