Rem 700 chassis

Ok wanting to build a Remington 700 chassis in the .308 and I like the Remington Chassis Kit that's Remington has but does anyone know anything about them.

Yeah I know that. And there are all different chassis out there I was just wondering is the one Remington has they sell with the gun good Or the LSS Chassis a good way to go. And where is a good place to buy one.

Yes that is the one I'm talking about. But every dealer I've talked to said it would have to be a special order so no I haven't seen one in person. So was just trying to figure out what would be easier to build one or just special order one and spend a arm and maybe couple legs. Or go with a cheaper chassis and have the same proformace.

I read somewhere on a thread that the LSS was the better buy. The TAC21 has a problem,,,,,, when you mount the scope, as you notice the picatinny rail is of the stock. They were saying that it was giving inconsistent zeroing. After the third or fourth shot, the next bullet was a flyer. I too wanted the TAC21 but, after that review it looks like the LSS is the preferred stock.

A few other good options for a sub 1K chassis would be Mcrees Prescision, XLR, Rock Solid... All can be purchased to fit a rem700 footprint and normally require zero gunsmith work.

I've been running a Mcrees for a year and just ordered up the new XLR to give it a shot. A chassis system can be a bit heavier than a composite stock but there are lots of advantages by not having to bed the action, purchase bottom metal and provides for sling swivels and rail sections for accessories if needed.
