Hey guys, got a rem 700 sps tac in .308 with a str eagle x56 scope n i wanted to ask peoples experiences with the stock rail. Good to go or should i grab a egw rail and hardware or anything else something better?
Makes sense as mine is technically "my" shops that i got in a shop buyout Goin outta biz - n allot of scope mounting advice makes much more sense now lol...
I have an EGW rail and it fits and works fine on my R700 in .223. They make good stuff. I can't argue with Lost_Phil though on having a rail with a recoil lug for heavier recoiling rifles. Without a recoil lug cast or machined into a rail, the shear forces of recoil are taken up by the screws, and screws were never meant to take shear forces (Nightforce is another mfg. that makes a rail with a built in recoil lug)

to my eyes i think ill go mdt. seemingly represent equivalent quality and mdt has a "cleaner" finish on their product with labeling and such. The recoil lug doesnt hurt! Think thats where ill throw the money this time.
