Rem 700 stock questions

Howdy!

I bought a Remington 700 in 7mm Rem Mag as my first rifle to get into the world of long range shooting. Hopefully it was a good choice. I know a lot of people shoot a 308 so I was a bit hesitant purchasing this caliber.

I've already picked out rings, scope base and a scope (SWFA SS 10x42M) Also, I'll be going with a Timney trigger group.

However, when it comes to stocks and barrels I'm a bit lost. The rifle currently has the factory barrel and the 'tupperware' stock which came with it.

If I purchase a stock inlet for the factory barrel, will I later be able to have the stock recut/inlet to accept a larger barrel? The rifle looks to never have been shot (I bought it used.)

Also, could that same stock be cut to accept bottom metal from Badger or another company when I have enough money? Or would it be a better idea to keep the rifle in an ADL setup?

You can open the barrel channrl in the future, as well as re-inletting to accept Badger or any other bottom metal.

Keeping the ADL configuration is totally up to you. If you want a different trigger guard and bottom dump magazine, or a DM system, that's your choice compared to the enclosed ADL mag.
