REM-742----30-06

Re: REM-742----30-06

Load it like a Garand would get, it will serve you well. There's TONS of Garand specific loads on here, if you can't come across them just shoot me a PM, I think I still have some handy I can look up.

I just moved though, so by "handy" it means I have an inkling where that box might be, please search first.

Around here we call the Rem 742's Brooklyn guns because every Ginzo has one

. The 742 was the only semiauto that i had to use small base dies or else i would have chambering issues.

+1 and watch how you size the cases so they will chamber well or the bolt does not close consistently which makes your accuracy suffer.

Re: REM-742----30-06

also that rifle is notorious for breaking extractors. not because of extractor issues. the least bit of moisture caused the chamber to rust and it holds onto the brass, ripping the extractor off when it tries to extract. I think Remington did a buy back on that rifle.
