Thoughts on the M24 SWS rebuilds that Remington is selling right now? Brand new barrel, receiver, and trigger group; everything else is surplus: $3500.

I guess my inner conflict is whether the genuine M24 rollmark on the barrel is worth the extra cost over 3rd party builds.

Re: Rem. M24 SWS

The only way that I would shuck out the extra coin for the logo is if it wasn't a repro. It's worth more in unaltered form. I'd just build a rifle like I want it. That's my 2 cents anyway.

Re: Rem. M24 SWS

is it worth it...well, it may be to you but let's say you wanted to sale it because you needed the money. Would that M24SWS mean the same to others - doubt it at $3500.00 The M24 is a nice rifle no doubt but it is one of the rifles that has sentimental value to those that have a jones for one or a person that carried one. There are lots of very nice rifles in the $3500 range that can be more customized to your needs than a garden variety M24 SWS. I like them too, but being that I was in the Army, I have an affinity towards the M24 but can't come up with a good reason to fork out the money for this Remington offer.
