They discontinued them because they obviously could not fix the problem even though they updated their magazines, TWICE!! I bought one in 2008, as I found out Ruger had discontinued their 10/22 mag. four years earlier. I had probs with FTF and FTE and just put it away in the safe as I became interested in other firearms.
Recently, a fellow member suggested, I get a Volquartsen extractor for my Remmie. I did and today, I took it out to test it and it worked great!
So, if anyone has one tucked away or mebbe finds one, you should get it real cheap, the probs should be fixed with a new Volquartsen extractor! :)

I have 2, but in 22lr. One of the things we were advised to do was no crank down the screws that held the guide rods in place. The rods needed to float. So screw down til tight. Then back of 1/4 turn or so. Great rifle. Use it for rimfire challenge and smoking groundhogs at the farm. Glad you got yours working ok. And TandemKross makes nice trigger kits for them.

Funny, I have never had any probs with triggers, beit, my handguns or my rifles. I have read that many people don't like their triggers and buy new ones.
My SIG 516 Patrol AR in 5.56 is an example as to exactly why I like mine. Anyone else would say that there is a rough "grind" when pulling the trigger. Well there is, but I got used to it, almost immediately. I slowly pull the trigger and sure enuff there is the "grind" kinda like sandpaper...then it stops. I stop too and adjust my eyes and sights to the target and slowly continue pulling the trigger. It goes off immediately and usually on target. Somehow it works to me. I am sure that over continuous use, the trigger pull will eventually smooth itself off, but I will have slowly gotten used to that too. This phenomena is also on several of my other firearms. In particular my BHP Mk. III of which everyone seems to recommend a new trigger which is usually done when getting rid of the "mousetrap" system partially on the magazines. I thought the mousetrap mags were kinda cool and kept them. The only changes I made to my BHP which had nothing to do with the trigger was a new sear and skeletonized hammer.
It's all a matter of getting used to...for me...plus I have saved a lot of money! :)
