Remington 1187 - Fixable or Scrap

Neighbor kid dropped this off (I’m a shooter not a gunsmith ). It was injured in a high speed pursuit. Said pursuit involved a coyote, pickup truck, snow, and a washout. The gunner lost control of the shotgun and the right rear of the pickup did the rest. Is it repairable, and if so, any recommendations on who, or is it a fatality? I have an 1187 Police (love it) but have only the knowledge to do a proper cleaning on it. Thanks in advance fellas.

Reparable. Disassemble firearm (remove trigger guard, etc.), disassemble the action spring tube (remove spring, action spring follower, etc.), check tube for straightness, replace tube if necessary (part# F15443B). Prep receiver and action spring tube surfaces to be silver soldered or brazed. Then silver solder or braze the action spring tube onto the receiver. Refinish as necessary.

Repairable isn't the same as worth repairing.

It's a Remington 11-87. Throw that thing in the trash and buy a better, modern gun.

Agreed you will spend as much having someone else fix it as you could buy a new/used shotgun. Not worth the time and effort.

Something like a used Beretta 303,390,391,3901 or even a newer A300 will shoot circles around that thing. As long as it has mobil chokes its good to go.

Remington semi auto's became obsolete in the 80's. It wasn't until the versamax came out they they had something new but remington quality was also shit at that point so who cares.
