This is timely with Larry Vickers' recent issues. This is a nice rifle with a pretty rare scope and an interesting connection to Larry Vickers.
The Rifle: Remington 40-X in a HS Precision stock with a Turner Saddlery NM sling. Chambered in 7.62 Nato. Note that this DOES NOT HAVE A BOLT. It didn't have one when I bought it and I don't know the story there. Overall the rifle is in excellent condition. The only thing I've noticed is a slight scratch on the muzzle, probably from the safe.
The Scope: Leupold & Stevens Ultra 10X-M1A with (I believe) L&S Ultra Rings. Rare, early L&S scope. Great condition.
The Story: This passed through Larry Vickers' hands in the early-mid 90's. This comes with a note from Larry to whoever was receiving the rifle. I'm guessing he transferred it for someone, but I don't know. It also comes with a copy of his FFL, albeit one that expired in 1995. It also comes with the original Remington box and paperwork.
I did try calling the number listed for Larry Vickers, but of course it was disconnected. I had to give it a shot anyway.
Overall, it's a nice M24ish rifle with the obvious issue of the missing bolt. The scope is in excellent condition and is one you don't see often. The note from Larry and original box / paperwork are a very cool piece bringing it all together.
