I found a local shop that has 2 remington 5R rifles, both in .308. They are asking about $1150.00 each.
I have read a little about this rifle and have a couple of questions.
Is this for the really serious competition shooter?
I am talking to a local seller who has a Remington SPS Varmint .308. I could get that rifle for $450.00. Is the SPS very much less accurate?
If I get the SPS I would replace the stock sooner or later. I held one at Cabela's and it feels- different. I could live with it for a while though.
I would have to buy optics for either rifle.
Whichever rifle I buy will be for more informal shooting. I won't be shooting many matches.
With all that in mind would the SPS be a better choice for me? Is the 5R that much better to be worth the extra cost?
Is that price really reasonable?
Jim
