Remington 700 American Hunter -Limited Run NRA Rifle in 6.5

You might be right, but I wasn't looking for a value/ capability comparison... I am interested in info from anyone with actual experience with this specific rifle.
I have a couple LTR's from the early 2000's that shoot great, but have largely stayed away from Remington since then, was hoping this last run of 700 5r rifles before their demise are worth owning.

I had a American Hunter for about a year back in 2019/2020. Shot it quite a bit from 100-300yds to get it ready to use for a hunting trip. Like many one here, I've had a bunch of 700s over the years, LTRs, original 5R, BDLs, Senderos, BDL Varmint Special, custom blueprinted 700s that all shot very well, especially the LTR, 5R, (i regret ever selling a G-prefix 308 LTR and my original 5R, they were sub half moa with fgmm) and C-prefix 243 BDL Varmint Special which is a hammer. i have a C-prefix BDL 243 that also shoots great and is my main whitetail gun. So, clearly im partial to old Remingtons that shoot.

WRT the American Hunter, it's light weight because of the 20" barrel and medium profile, the barrel is slightly thicker than standard profile you'd find on a BDL. I thought the action was pretty solid and smooth, no complains. I liked the bigger bolt knob. I never had issues with extraction, ejection, or operating the bolt. It looked to be machined well, not the same as a Tikka which looks and runs as smooth as a custom action. The cerakote finish was pretty thin i thought, I leaned it up against a barb wire fence (very lightly) and it left a little mark on the barrel that scracthed off the cerakote, not a big deal, but not weatherproof in that spot anymore. I shot a few quality factory loads thru it and it did take effort/work to shoot well, I'd like to think because of the rifle being fairly light, i think it was under 7 pounds and i had a lightweight scope on it. I settled on using the Federal Premium Barnes TTSX cooper bullets load. I dont remember exact accuracy groups but they were definitely hovered around 1 MOA between from 100-300 yrds on a square range. It never really blew me away in actual use. It was light and handy in 6.5cm which is why i tried it out, but it just wasnt anything special. I replaced the trigger with a 40x, although there wasnt anything really that bad about the factory trigger. I took it on a hunt and did kill a deer with it at 250yds but my shot was a little off, although i felt good about how i broke the shot and my positioning for the shot, so i think that thing "it took work to shoot well" did translate into the field. So all that said is why it just didnt do it for me. Hope that helps.

Being a Remington fan, I I am real interested to see how the new Rem Arms RAR-prefix rifles shoot, i've handles a couple BDLs and they look and feel nice.

Thanks. Appreciate the feedback on the rifle. I have one that's unfired new in the box, been debating whether to sell it NIB or shoot it. It's definitely a nice rifle, handles and feel great, action is excellent, machining is excellent. At 6.9 lbs. bare, it does feel light... but was built to be carried. Had a few others tell me theirs were ¾ moa or better. Was curious what others experience was.

Anyway, hesitant to shoot it and ruin any collector value it might have as a Limited Edition, supposedly only 1500 rifles were to be produced, but no way of knowing how many were actually made before Remington's closure and bankruptcy in 2020. This rifle is number 306 of 1500.

Checked out a couple Tikka's at a local gun shop a few days ago... never shot one, they were ok, but doubt I’d buy one. Probably just distracted by the S&W 1854 stealth hunter in .44 the net rack over, caught a case of gun lust over that one… but can’t think of a practical reason to own it, felt damn good in the hand though.

I’ll probably end up selling the American Hunter, and stick with my LTR’s.
