So, I have an unhealthy devotion to the Remi 700 platform, and I'm looking to build a .300WM. I've narrowed it down to 3 options, and I'm looking for advice on which route I should go. I'm looking at a 5R, a 700P, or a Sendero SF II. All have a bull barrel, two of the three are fluted. I'm going to change out the stock (want box mags) and I'd like to eventually have it threaded for a suppressor. Not entirely worried about the SS (Cerakote exists for a reason). So let me know guys!!!

Remington 700 in .300 WM

I had a Sendero in 300 win mag that was very accurate with factory ammo. Hated to sell it, but it was more gun than I needed. If you're going to get rid of the stock amd you don't really want stainless, then you might as well go with the 700P. I've owned them in 223 and 308, both shot well.
Yeah... I'm not partial to the Stainless, probably just wind-up getting the whole thing Cerakoted in the long run. I know people seem to love the 5Rs and the 700P seem to be damn near impossible to find, so I didn't know if there was a huge difference other than the fluting. Plus the 5R's can come from the factory threaded, so that might be a big deal too.
I too have a misplaced devotion to the 700 but there is so much available in the after market for them. I've got a 300 WinMag with the 5R rifling but mine is the 20" version. It shoots half minute all day. I'm not a fan at all of stainless so it was a bonus that it was cerakoted black and tan with the XLR chassis. The Senderos and the 700P's also shoot quite well so I don't think you'll have a problem either of the three but I'd go and did go with the 5R.
I've owned the 5r with the 26" bbl, HS stock with thick palm swell ( stainless) ,and the 700 P with the better trigger and HS stock with the thinner palm swell.
To me it was a no brainer. The 700 Police had a better "feel" and a MUCH better trigger. All I did was put a Badger Ordnance Thruster Muzzle Brake , a 20 moa rail and a 5.5x22x56 NF NXS on it. No bedding at all. At 1200 yards... I could consistently put 6 to 7" groups on target with a 208 amax.
With the 5R, I ended up having to sell the stock to fund a Bell and Carlson M40 stock and have it full contact bedded, put a jewell hvr trigger, and another Muzzle break. Once I finally got the 5R shooting , I must say I was impressed. But the sheer fact that the 700 Police shot lights out right out of the box would send me that way every time.

And you are going to replace the stock anyways, why don't you just buy an action for $400 and spin on a pre-fit barrel. Prolly be cheaper in the long run and likely shoot better.
I have a 24" 5r i put in a PSS stock because i like the longer forearm and palm swells. I used the DBM that fits BDL bottom metal and uses the longer Accurate mags so i can load longer. I am tickled with it. I put a CE trigger in it and it is being threaded right now.
I rarely shoot 300WM so it doesnt get shot much but it performs when it is called upon.

I know you said you have it narrowed down to 3 options but I have to agree with TC308 here. For the price of those rifles plus the fact you are planning on changing the stock out I would with out a doubt go with the cheapest 700 action I could find and put a criterion barrel on it and still be ahead of the game. I have done a ton of these remage setups and i have never been upset. Just did two 300 win mags earlier this year actually and you wont find a factory 700 rifle that will be as accurate, consistently, as this setup.
My 700p 300wm shot great with the factory barrel and the criterion remage that replaced it. If you look around they make a factory threaded 24" 5R in 300WM. I didn't want to pay to have the factory barrel on my 700p threaded because I bought it used and didn't know how many rounds it had left. About 1k rounds later, it was shot out.
I've had both and this is what I can suggest...
If you want factory threaded go with the 5R
If you don't care about the threading up front and will have it done later go with 700P
Personally I'd go 700P just because I'm not a fan of stainless. Just my opinion though

I just picked one up in 300 Ultra for a SAUM project. The stock is pretty nice and the action actually has some primary extraction.
I decided to shoot it some before the barrel change and I have shot several MOA groups with factory ammo and one 5/8 MOA group at 385 yds with reloads. Plenty good for a budget hunting rifle.
I'm sure it's a crap shoot with factory rifles but I seem to have a good one.

I picked one up from Gander Mountain for $700. Only have had time to put 5 rounds through it getting it sighted on paper at 100y. I'm a Remington 700 guy myself, and had minor problems with the last couple and was happy this one is functioning without issue. cant speak for the out the box accuracy yet, but happy with the purchase for the money so far. Plus it's my first 300wm
